Earlier today, Twitter user @shotbyjohnson tweeted the Online Retail giant Wiggle.co.uk (@wigglebikeshop), offering his MG Rover ZR as a trade for a new Mekk 2G Poggio Ultegra road bike.

Now, I work for Wiggle and was in the office when this tweet came in. Our mutual reaction was “let’s do it”, so as soon as we figured out who would actually take ownership of this car, we accepted @shotbyjohnson’s offer.

We hope our customer will drive the car from his home in the north to the Wiggle HQ in Portsmouth to pick up his new bike and leave his MG Rover behind.

In response to the tweet (pictured below), we accepted the offer and said “Seems like a fair trade”.

Unsure of the exact value of the car, we’re still sure it’s a fair deal and are amused by other tweeters’ swapping offers that so far amount to two wives and a Nokia phone with an in-known snake score.

It goes to show that if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Although I’m pretty sure we at Wiggle won’t be trading too many more cars for bikes. It will be interesting to hear what customers suggest in the future.
